Recently I created a tutorial for a graduate course in finite element analysis at Georgia Tech covering the basics of how to use Abaqus, one of the most widely-used simulation frameworks available for mechanical, aerospace, and civil engineers. I am sharing the tutorial here to help out anyone looking to get started with Abaqus.
This tutorial only hits the major highlights, laying the foundation for how the software is set up and where to find answers to questions. Then, the tutorial takes you through a simple analysis of a plate with a hole (above), start to finish. But even though it’s an overview, it will get you to the finite element analysis equivalent of “hello world” and illuminate the first few steps of your journey.
